Free Class Helps Families Living with Mental Illness Better Support a Loved One 

DAVENPORT, Iowa (JUNE 12, 2016) –   NAMI Family-to-Family is a free class for families, partners and friends of individuals 18 years or older living with a serious mental health condition. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of a condition, increase coping skills and empower participants to become advocates for their family member.

 

Course topics include family response to trauma, diagnosis and dealing with critical periods, problem solving, communications skills, and self-care for caregivers. Register through August 19.

 

The program is 12 weeks long and is offered in two locations.

 

·         From August 30 to November 15 at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo, Illinois.

 

·         From September 1 to November 17 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa.
