The two videos show Iowans asking Chuck Grassley questions on his record
DES MOINES, Iowa – This morning, the Patty Judge campaign released two advertisements showing how Chuck Grassley has consistently refused to answer the tough questions from Iowans.
“Chuck Grassley used to stand before Iowans and explain his views,” said Patty Judge. “Now Chuck Grassley avoids public town halls with Iowans living in the largest counties and pulls out of the only statewide debate he committed to. Iowans want to ask him why he supports privatizing Social Security, has failed to make college affordable, and supports giving Donald Trump the nuclear codes, but Chuck Grassley has ducked debates and these tough questions.”
The ads, “Issues” and “Changed,” reprise the Judge campaign’s cardboard cutout of Chuck Grassley and show Iowans in a town-hall setting questioning why he supports policies that will hurt the middle class, including Grassley’s role in making the Republican-led Senate one of the least effective in history, his support for privatizing Social Security, and how he can be so okay with leaving Iowa behind. “Issues” also includes questions on his support for defunding Planned Parenthood.
Despite Grassley’s campaign touting his 99-county tour, Chuck Grassley has conspicuously avoided public town hall meetings, statewide debates, and many other instances where he might have to answer the tough questions. He skipped the Des Moines Register Soapbox this year, backed out of a statewide televised debate on Iowa Public Television, and has not allowed public access to his county tour meetings in 8 of the largest counties in Iowa during his current term.
