We are celebrating all the positive work being done in the QC to ensure our community is safe & welcoming for ALL.

 

Bettendorf, Iowa-  QC United is home to Pete the Purple Bull - a kind, friendly Bull working hard to make Bullying disappear. Pete is hosting several family-friendly events during the month of October to raise awareness about the issue of Bullying. Pete wants to remind community members that everyone is responsible for doing their part to make our Quad Cities a kind, accepting place to learn, live and work.

 

Runners/walkers and fashionable doggies are needed for the "Run with the Bull" 5K & the Little Moover's Dash as well as the Dudes & Divas Doggy Fashion Show. Funds raised from this event support ongoing anti-bullying programs in the schools.
  
When:       Saturday, October 15th

 

Time:        9am    - Liittle Moover's Dash (for kids up to 11 years old)  Cost- $5
                 9:30    - Dudes and Divas Doggy Fashion Show  Cost $10
                10am   - Run with the Bull 5K  (walkers welcomed!)   Cost $27

 

Where      Base of the I-74 Bridge in Bettendorf, under the large covered lot
                 (the race is along the Mississippi River on the bike path)

 

The Little Moover's Dash includes a 200yd dash, inflatables, games, snacks and each entrant receives yellow Pete horns.

 

The Dudes and Divas Doggy Fashion Show raises funds for anti-bullying programs and also for the QC Animal Welfare Center. There will be multiple prizes awarded.

The Run with the Bull 5K is sponsored by Alcoa and HABLO and is designed for runners/walkers of all levels. There will be winners in multiple age and gender categories. Alcoa has designed and created special Pete the Purple Bull medals to be awarded to all winners. There will be music and Zumba to warm up the runners/walkers and a post-race celebration with food and beverages. Each runner, if registered by October 7th, is guaranteed a t-shirt. Race day registrants will receive t-shirts as long as supplies last. Registration forms can be downloaded or registration is available online by visiting www.qcunited.org

Where:    QC Waterfront Convention Center (2021 State St. Bettendorf, Iowa)

 

What's happening?

 

First 100 kids receive special Pete the Purple Bull horns

 

New Bike Give-Away: 10 bikes, donated by Dr. Pepper/Snapple, will be given away throughout the afternoon. Youth can enter by bringing 3 canned goods or by donating $3. Must be present to win.

 

Entertainment throughout the afternoon will include the Glenview Middle School Mariachi Band, the QC Ballet Folklorico, Native American Friendship Dancers, QC Motion Respira, the hip-hop dance troup- Re-Mix and featuring RE-FLEX & Pete the Purple Bull.

 

Hip-Hop Professional Video Shoot and Workshop open to the public- Juan and Curtis of RE-FL3X, with the assistance of Re-Mix dancers, will teach all the latest hip-hop moves. The workship will be professionally recorded resulting in a polished, hip-hop video published on You Tube.

 

Art work submitted from 10 high school groups will be on display and the public can vote on their favorite paintings, with monetary awards benefiting high school art programs.

Play "Bully Must Go" - an interactive game for children. Participants look for special coins with the power to make Bullying Disappear. Prizes will be awarded.
