Quad Cities Interfaith (QCI) will host an open house this Sunday, Sept 11th to celebrate 30th years of work to create a more just society. QCI Leaders, allies, community members will be in attendance to celebrate our victories, thank the community for its support, and look ahead to our vision of the future of QC Interfaith.

The event is from 3:30pm – 6:00pm at the Freight House, Davenport. At 4:30pm there will be a brief program which will include Davenport Mayor Frank Klipsch, who will present QCI with a City Proclamation; and Clyde Mayfield, Davenport School Board Member, and longtime QCI and community leader. Monsignor Marvin Mottet, one of the four founding pastors of QCI, will also be in attendance. This event is free and open to the public. Among its work over the years:

• QCI led the development of a Mental Health Court demonstration project in Scott County, Iowa. Starting July 2016, the diversion program helps participants get the mental health care they need as an alternative to incarceration.

• Developed and leading a coalition of faith, business, education and community stakeholders to ensure the Chicago to Moline rail project brings local jobs, and jobs training, local control and equitable access for our community.

• Brought the Illinois Dept. of Transportation Highway Construction Careers Training Program (HCCTP) to the Quad Cities. The program has brought nearly 1,000,000.00 to the community to train minorities, women, and other traditionally underserved people in the highway construction trades.

• Part of a coalition which secured an agreement with the City of Davenport in 2012 for a multi-year study of police traffic stops and worked with Davenport Police to address concerns about racial profiling in the community.

• Developed a gang intervention project and an education incentive program for local youth.

• Founded Interfaith Housing, which rebuilds central city homes that revitalize our neighborhoods

• Part of a coalition which successfully changed Illinois and Iowa laws to cap car title loans at 36%.
