The Quad City Botanical Center is hosting two adventurous spring bus trips you won't want to miss!
Let's Explore Grant Wood Country.Thursday April 21, 2016. Guests will enjoy a trip to the National Motorcycle Museum located in Anamosa, Iowa. For those guests who love the wind blowing through their hair, the speed and freedom motorcycles can give, this museum has it all. With captivating displays, the guests will be able to follow the early history of motorcycles to present day. The next stop on this bus trip will be the Anamosa State Penitentiary Museum that chronicles the history of this 142 year old maximum security prison. Guests will learn of infamous prisoners, step inside a replica prison cell, and see shanks and other contraband created by inmates. Stone City is the next stop on this trip, made famous as the location of Grant Wood's artist colony and featured in many of his paintings. Guests will be able to tour the old stone church and visit an operating stone quarry. Another nearby city that has a lot of Grant Wood influence is Cedar Rapids, IA. Here guests will visit the National Czech & Slovak Museum. This museum is a showcase for this vibrant culture's people and heritage.

Plant Shopping with a Swiss Twist. Thursday, May 19, 2016.
The Quad City Botanical Center is offering an outstanding day trip to the Flower Factory Nursery in Stoughton, WI. Featuring the Midwest's largest selection of perennials, hosta and ornamental grasses, guests will enjoy filling their red wagons with plants from their wish list! The Botanical Center's own gardener, Dave Searl will accompany guests to answer any plant questions they may have. A stop in New Glarus will reveal this picturesque village with it's rich Swiss heritage, bringning great delight as guests stroll through the unique shops. A scenic drive through the countryside will take guests to the Swiss Colony Outlet store in Monroe where they will find many more treasures to take home! Bus will depart at 6:30am from the Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 4th Ave., Rock Island, IL.
