Fall into Some November Learning & Fun at the Rock Island Library
 
Rock Island, IL: The Rock Island Public Library will host a variety of free programs for children this November. 

·         Play and Grow times, 10:30 am on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at the 30/31 Branch, Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Southwest Branch, and Friday, Nov. 11 at the Main Library. Play and Grow teaches early learning skills and educates parents and caregivers, too, with play and story activities for children ages three and under. Play and Grow is offered monthly, and is free.

·         Southwest Family Craft, Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 6:00 pm and Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10:00 am, Southwest Branch. Kids and parents will make colorful pinecone turkeys, just in time for holiday decorating.  Registration is requested for this event. ·         STEM-Azing Science Fun, Wednesday, Nov.9, 4:00 to 5:00 pm, 30/31 Branch. Kids will learn about the science of food. This event is for school-age children.

·         Family Movie, Friday, Nov. 11 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Main Library. A free PG-rated movie and snack. Set in a mammal metropolis, the movie features a crime-solving bunny, and her reluctant partner, a very sly con-artist fox. Free, families of all ages.

·         Toddler Tales Storytimes, 10:30 am, Tuesday, Nov. 15, 22, 29 at 30/31 Branch; Nov. 16, 23, 30 at Southwest Branch;  and Friday, Nov. 18 at the Main Library. The storytimes use stories, songs, movement and fun to build early learning skills in children  ages birth to five.

·         Dance Me a Story - The Nutcracker, Monday, Nov. 14, 6:00 pm, Rock Island Main Library, 401 19th Street. Learn how dance and story form a flawless pair with a program presented by Ballet Quad Cities. Act out the story with a real ballet dancer, and see how movement can tell a story. For preschool and school age kids, and families. Free.

·         Tween Gaming, 5:30 pm, Monday, Nov. 21, Main Library. Video games for ages 8 to 12 on Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360, board games, and snacks. Game with a group. Learn problem-solving and teamwork while having fun.

The library will also offer a special all-ages event to celebrate the latest movie in the world of Harry Potter. The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Party is Thurs, Nov. 17, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Main Library. Bring the whole family and hunt for magical monsters, take part in wizard sparring. Crafts, snacks and prizes, too. All ages, free.
