Rock Island 30/31 and Southwest Branches Closed for July 4th Holiday

Rock Island, IL: All Rock Island Public Library locations will be closed Monday, July 4 for the holiday. Digital services at www.rockislandlibrary.org will continue to be available.  

Locations reopen on Tuesday, July 6 at normal hours, which are:

·         9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Rock Island Main Library, 401 19th Street

·         9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Rock Island 30/31 Branch, 3059 30th Street, and

·         10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Rock Island Southwest Branch, 9010 Ridgewood Road.

Despite the holiday, the week is busy with On Your Mark, Get Set, READ summer activities. Events held at Rock Island Libraries during the week of July 4 include:

The Noble Art of Fencing, a free class on the Olympic sport for kids in grades 3-8, at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 6, at the Main Library. Call or go online to register.

Free presentation by Niabi Zoo educators with live animals, 11:00 am on Thursday, July 7, at the Southwest Branch.

Life Size Gaming for Teens, a free event with human-sized games of Scrabble, Chess, and more, 3:00 pm on Thursday, also at the Southwest Branch.

An independent movie for adults, Breathe, shown at 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 7 at the Main Library.

A free showing for families of the movie Mouse Hunt, 2:00 pm on Friday, July 8, also at the Main Library.
