Public invited to hear local neurologist address facts about dementia and aging

DAVENPORT, IA (May 9, 2016) – Senior Star at Elmore Place is pleased to host Dr. Short, neurologist, for an informative lecture on dementia at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17 at 4500 Elmore Drive in Davenport. During his presentation, Dr. Short will discuss dementia, resources available in the community, and the latest treatments available.

According to the Alzheimer Association’s website, more than 5 million individuals are living with dementia in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that the number of people living with dementia doubles every five years after some reaches age 65. Although there is no cure, treatment often focuses on managing behaviors, maintaining mental function, and slowing the process of the disease.

“It is always beneficial to continue your education beyond online research,” said Marc Strohschein, executive director at Senior Star at Elmore Place. “This seminar gives you the chance to ask questions of a local expert. Senior Star is proactive in educating residents, staff and the public about aging well as reflected in our relationships with professional medical groups in the Quad Cities community.”

As a physician with Neurologist Consultants P.C., Dr. Short is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He also is the President of the Iowa Neurological Association.

Seats are limited for this informative presentation. Please RSVP no later than May 16 to reserve your spot by calling 563.359.0100.
