School Break Coming - March Into Rock Island Library for Learning, Fun

 

Rock Island, IL: The Rock Island Public Library will host a variety of programs to keep children and teens occupied and learning during the Rock Island/Milan District school break, March 14-25.

Programs for children include:

Southwest Family Craft, Saturday, March 12, 10:00 am, Southwest Branch. Make a paper flower with a candy heart, and  celebrate spring.

  • Read to a Dog, Saturday, March 12, 9:30 to 11:30 am, Southwest Branch. Drop in to read to a therapy dog from QC Canine Assistance (QC CAN) before and after the family craft day.
  • Tween Gaming, Monday, March 14, 5:30 to 7:00 pm, Main Library Community Room. Gaming activities on the second Monday of every month at the Main Library, just for ages 8 to 12.
  • Junie B. Jones Is at the Library, Wednesday, March 16, 6:00 pm, Main Library Children's Room. Junie B. Jones, famous on the page and on the Circa 21 Dinner Playhouse stage, joins us to read and help with crafts.
  • Drop-in Crafternoon, Thursday, March 17, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Main Library Children's Room. Get creative with several simple crafts will be available for preschoolers to 7 years old.
  • Tween Minecraft Crafts, Monday, March 21, 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, Main Library Community Room. Love your Minecraft? Bring the game to life with fun, three-dimensional crafts. Creep into the Main Library to build several Minecraft crafts. For ages 8 to 12.
  • Craft Break! Tuesday, March 22, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at the 30/31 Branch, inside bookstore. Try a wide variety of make and take crafts for preschoolers to 7 year-old.
  • Moviefest, Saturday, March 26, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Main Library Community Room. Come into the library for a free movie, featuring Snoopy and friends, and popcorn. All Ages

Programs for teens include:

Teen Anime Night, Thursday, March 17, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, Main Library. Watch anime while you learn about Japanese culture, including  Japanese hiragana characters and snacks.

  • Teen Coloring Night, Thursday, March 24, 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Main Library. Why should adults have all the fun? Relax with hot chocolate, snacks and coloring sheets from various fandoms.

All library programs are free unless otherwise specified. No registration is required.
