DAVENPORT - The River Music Experience will kick off a new summer tradition to commemorate its anniversary with a special Live@5 block party. The event will take place on June 10th, 2016. Featuring outdoor music performances, activities for the whole family, with food and drinks. It all takes place on 2nd Street between Main and Brady, and the RME Courtyard.
The Giving Tree Band will headline the event, with Flash in a Pan and Juliana & a Soul Purpose as support.
"The RME is proud to be a cultural cornerstone for downtown Davenport," Deb Powers, RME CEO, said. "Kicking off the summer music activities is a natural fit for the RME."
Live music will be complimented by a special appearance from Zippy the Clown and Friends, face painting and raffles. The raffles will be for artist-signed show posters from over the years, including Leon Russell, Keller Williams, Victor Wooten and more. Along with a raffle for the chance to win free admission to Redstone Room shows for an entire year. The first 25 people through the gate will receive a gift bag with some surprises in it.
Woodfire Grill will sell smoked brisket and pork carnitas street tacos, fresh cinnamon sugar mini-donuts, and more. Kona Ice will sell shaved ice for everyone to enjoy. Lagunitas Brewing Company will do a tap take over, and offer some of their bestselling beers along with a selection of domestic bottles. Artisan Grain, a Davenport distillery, will offer samples of their products. A few signature cocktails from the distillery will be available at the bar.
Second Street between Main and Brady will be blocked off for the night, and the bands will perform in the street on flatbed trucks provided by Simplex Leasing.
This special event will have a cover charge of $10 in advance, and $12 at the gate. Gates open at 4 p.m., and the first band will start at 4:30. Ticket sales and information is available at rivermusicexperience.org.
The RME's 12th Anniversary, a special Live@5, is sponsored by Wells Fargo, Lagunitas Brewing Company and Simplex Leasing.
