The weekend is full of activities at River Music Experience starting Friday with a live lunch featuring Tony Hoeppner. That night, Rude Punch will play in the Redstone Room as well and you can catch Alyx Rush perform a free show on the community stage! Saturday, participate in a songwriter's round table session or catch another free show with Mike Cochrane.

The first Figge Art Museum Free Family Day of 2016 is this Saturday! Enjoy free admission all day and a variety of free planned activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Make chalk drawings, create your own multi-media collage and frame, have a photo taken with props, visit with the Native American Coalition of the QC, and view objects from the Big Picture Outreach Collection.

A new train exhibit is coming to the German American Heritage Center! Crossing the Tracks of Time: Quad City Railroad History opens Sunday. Learn the history of rail in the local area and see a wide range of railroad memorabilia, artifacts, documents, and photos. Also, see the Austrian model railroad display in the third floor gallery!

Speaking of railroad history, did you know that the first railroad bridge to span the Mississippi River was between Davenport and Rock Island? In 1856 a steamboat collided with the bridge and a lawsuit ensued with Abraham Lincoln representing in court (and winning) for the railroad. Thanks to Bechtel Trusts, there's a new historic statue in Bechtel Park highlighting the history, called "Lincoln with Boy on Bridge." It was just unveiled today, so go check it out!

Next weekend, take advantage of the many deals being offered for the 15th annual Be a Tourist in Your Own Backyard Weekend! There are 50 coupons to be used for great hotel deals, restaurant discounts, attraction passes and more! Downtown businesses participating so far are Bix Bistro, Figge Museum, German American Heritage Center, Hotel Blackhawk, Radisson Quad City Plaza and River Music Experience.
