In celebration of all things brews and bacon, the Beer & Bacon Fest is at the RiverCenter tomorrow! The 2016 Fest will bring the region's top eateries, pork purveyors and specialty craft brews together for a match made in hog heaven. In honor of the big game on Sunday, attendees will also be able to compete in football-themed games for a variety of prizes.

Head to the Figge on Fat Tuesday for the Rajun Cajun Food Fest! With Cajun and Creole-inspired cuisines, specialty cocktails, traditional second line dancing and beads galore, this will be a deliciously fun night. Looking for more tasty fun?  Great River's double dark rye pale ale Hop-A-Potamus is back! The Great River Brewery seasonal favorite is made with six kinds of rye malt and loads of hops. The golden keg will be tapped tomorrow at 5 pm and Coats Catering will be there, too.

CraftedQC has officially launched their first batch of classes with Strung by Shawna kicking off the DIY fun! She used to design for Oriental Trading Company so she knows a thing or two about making stuff. Check out the string art designs and register for a class. Oh, and if you want to book private parties you can do that, too.  What a unique and fun way to have a get together with your friends.

Speaking of creativity, Japanese artist Anna Ito will teach you how to create a one-of-a-kind Valentine card and ornament using a brush calligraphy technique on Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Figge.  Down the street, the first of many spring craft workshops at the German American Heritage Center begins this Saturday. Sign up for the first session to create a traditional Scherenschnitte with Keith Bonstetter and surprise your sweetie this year.

One of our favorite downtown streetscape projects has received a first place award from 1000 Friends of Iowa in the stormwater management category! The timber benches along 4th and Iowa streets are expected to reduce the amount of water runoff entering the Mississippi River by 25,000 gallons during a typical rainfall event. Congrats to Davenport on the award and recognition.
