The University of Dubuque Office of Admission has added their first-ever Army ROTC-specific Preview Day to their annual roster of Preview Day dates.  The Saturday, March 5, Army ROTC Preview Day will provide an opportunity for potential students to find out more about the University of Dubuque’s Army ROTC program, as well as the University of Dubuque as a whole.  Preview Day activities begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Heritage Center Conference Room on the University of Dubuque campus.

Army ROTC Preview Day activities include:

 Introduction to Army ROTC;

 University of Dubuque overview;

 Tour of campus with a Student Ambassador;

 Discussions with academic professors;

 Lunch with current students;

 Information on admission and student financial planning; and

 An opportunity to lean more from current UD Army ROTC cadets and cadre.

Founded in 1916, Army ROTC has produced more than one-half million lieutenants for the U. S. Army. It remains the broadest avenue for men and women seeking to serve as officers. An Army officer is a prestigious professional who serves as a leader of one of the most respected institutions in America.

The tradition of military support at UD began as early as the autumn of 1918 when the campus hosted the Students’ Army Training Corps (SATC).  Military programs continued at UD until 1991 when a decreasing need for officers in the Armed Forces prompted UD to deactivate the ROTC program.  After a 10-year hiatus, the current ROTC program appeared on campus once more.  Today, the UD ROTC Program is comprised of 52 ROTC Cadets with a two-year goal of over 100 ROTC Cadets.

The UD ROTC Program is second to none.  The ROTC Cadre has a total of over 76 years Active Duty and National Guard experience with over 9 years of combat experience in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Our ROTC Program focuses on building future US Army Officers while teaching our students lifelong skills based on Integrity, Respect, Honor, and Duty.  The UD ROTC program is a direct representation of the University of Dubuque, the surrounding community and the US Army.
