FOREST CITY, Iowa – On Oct. 19, many Waldorf University students signed the Purple Heart Pledge at a special event to raise awareness of domestic violence.

Sponsored by the Crisis Intervention Service, this campus event was part of national Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Crisis Intervention Service serves victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault in 15 counties in North Central Iowa and Survivors of Homicide Program in 14 counties.

Waldorf students at the event signed a pledge on a purple heart to prevent domestic violence as part of the theme “Love Shouldn’t Hurt.” The pledge is a promise not to hurt others with your words or hands. The hearts will be on display in the atrium on the Waldorf campus to foster awareness throughout the remainder of October.
