Kick off the holiday season Saturday with the Festival of Trees Holiday Parade! Enjoy the largest helium balloon parade in the Midwest boasting over 20 balloons, pageant queens, dance groups, bands, clowns, floats, tractors, antique cars, and more. Click here for road closure and parking info. The parade begins at 11 a.m. and remember to have breakfast with Santa too before the big show.
Festival of Trees is an annual fundraiser for Quad City Arts and you can expect to find attractions ranging from art exhibits and designer displays to trees decorated by children and teens. Have some fun at the Silver Bell Social and spread the word that Military Day on Sunday offers discounted general admissions. The Teddy Bear Tea, Sizzlin' Soiree, Jingle Jam, Celebrity Lunch, and Sugar Plum Ball round out the fest with a little something for everyone, too.
Broadway has made it's way to the Adler Theatre! Lujack Lexus presents the timeless classic Fiddler on the Roof this Sunday. Enjoy a variety of heartwarming scores including "If I Were A Rich Man" and "Tradition" in this Broadway musical full of magically woven music, dance, poignancy, and laughter. Also, tickets to see Bill Cosby at the Adler go on sale soon, too!
River Music Experience is busy with sure-fire crowd pleasing performances! On Friday, plan to jam the night away with Chicago's Family Groove Company for just $10 and show up early to catch River Roots Live veteran Dick Prall in the Cafe for only $5, too! On Saturday, the Quad Cities' own Three Years Hollow will perform hits from both of their acclaimed albums. RME is also hosting Kidz Days, Jef Spradley Band, QC Rock Academy, 3rd Sunday Jazz featuring The Sax Offenders, Kings w/ the Easy Mark, and more.
Take advantage of FREE ADMISSION to the Figge Art Museum this Saturday after the parade! This allows for a perfect opportunity to experience the newest exhibition, Picturing Identity: The Allure of Portraiture, on it's opening day. While you're there, check out the other exhibits including the 2012 College Invitational and Portrait of Maquoketa: The Dimensional View. The Portrait of Maquoketa exhibit is very cool and it's even interactive; go out of your way to see this nationally renowned exhibit while you can!
Are you an animal lover? Help raise funds for the Quad City Animal Welfare Center by attending Yappy Hour at Duck City Bistro tonight! Appetizers, a silent auction, wine pulls, and door prizes await those who donate to the cause. Looking to support local beers? Check out the MUGZ Brewing Club Scottish Ale Tapping at Great River Brewery.
In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, head out to the River's Edge on Saturday for a public skate featuring Turkey Bowling! Test your bowling skills on ice by taking part in this new QC tradition and plan to have a good time attempting to bowl a frozen turkey with any kind of accuracy.
