DES MOINES, IOWA (September 9, 2026) — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird announced she joined the first annual Quad City Back the Blue Flight to Washington DC to honor active and retired law-enforcement officers from the Quad City area. The flight left the Quad City International Airport this morning, Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
The flight is a one-day round trip to visit sites in the nation's capital, including the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial where fallen officers are honored, the National Law Enforcement Museum, the Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and the US Capitol.
Attorney General Bird joined 170 others, including retired officers, active officers, spouses of both retired and active officers, Gold Star members, and volunteers on today’s flight.
“Every day of their careers, Iowa law enforcement officers put their lives on the line for us,” said AG Bird.
“I am thankful that the Quad City Back the Blue Flight honors our law enforcement. It’s my honor to be on the first annual flight and to spend a whole day with so many heroes in our nation’s capital.”
Quad City Blue Flight is a registered 501(c)(3). The Quad Cities community has rallied around this cause, and the money has been raised to fund this first flight to honor law-enforcement heroes. The Quad City Back the Blue Flight includes law enforcement agencies throughout Scott and Rock Island Counties.
