The Adjutant General, Illinois National Guard, Richard J. Hayes Jr., of Springfield, Illinois, joined one of Illinois National Guard's newest recruits Pvt.

The City of Davenport will celebrate Military Appreciation Week May 13-19 with banners proclaiming the event at City Hall, on downtown street lights and several parks & city facilities.  May is Military Appreciation Month nationwide.
Throughout the week, Davenport will offer a number of perks to active members of the military, veterans and their families.

Task Force recommends building state-of-the art facility at Quincy Veterans Home

SPRINGFIELD (May 1, 2018) – The Combined Veterans’ Capital Needs Task Force, created by Governor Bruce Rauner to analyze infrastructure needs and develop key strategies on how to improve the health and safety of residents at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy (IVHQ), has submitted a final report to the Governor and General Assembly.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack announced today that he will be presenting various military medals to Davenport Veteran Noel Komasa, on MONDAY, April 30th at 4:30pm. Komasa served in the Korean War and will be presented with the medals he earned in service to our nation, but never received. The presentation is open to the media.

Davenport, Iowa – The Veterans of Underage Military Service (VUMS) hold their 26th Annual Reunion on April 23-25, 2018, at the Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn in Davenport, Iowa.  This organization is composed of men and women who enlisted in a U.S. military service before being of legal age to do so.  While many enlisted at age 15 or 16, a good number did so as early as 12, and some were in combat at age 13.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack announced today that he will be hosting an U.S. Service Academy Day on SATURDAY, April 14th at the Bettendorf Library. At the Service Academy Day, the Navy, Air Force and Army, along with University of Iowa’s Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC, will have representatives available to meet with students and their families about enrolling and attending a Service Academy.
