SPRINGFIELD, IL (11/09/2017) (readMedia)-- Springfield, Illinois – The Illinois National Guard is sending a team of Soldiers to Afghanistan as part of a mission supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel. The soldiers will train and work side-by-side with their Polish counterparts.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack today introduced legislation that builds on current public-private partnership efforts to ensure our veterans have the skills necessary to seamlessly enter the workforce after they return home. The Veterans Employment Training (VET) Act would provide grants to encourage local businesses and community colleges to offer our veterans the training needed to be successful in newly created jobs.

Hayes, the Adjutant General of the Illinois National Guard, presided over the ceremony that included nearly 20 military members, as well as Congressman Darin Lahood and State Representative Dan Brady.
