DES MOINES, IOWA (October 20, 2022) — Iowa’s unemployment rate increased slightly to 2.7 percent in September, while overall labor-force participation held steady at 67.7 percent. The US unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent in September, but the nation’s labor-force participation rate fell to 62.3 percent.

The report measures member expectations for sales, capital spending, and employment for the next six months. If the index measures above fifty, sentiment is positive. The third-quarter survey's overall economic outlook index is 58.75, down 5.13 index points from the second-quarter report.
