DES MOINES, IOWA (July 13, 2022) — Iowa Workforce Development announced it has awarded over $3.6 million in funding designated to create or expand Registered Apprenticeship Programs across Iowa. Benefiting both employers and high schools, Registered Apprenticeship Programs are a critical tool for building new workforce pipelines in high-demand fields and allowing young Iowans to earn while they learn.

The report measures member expectations for sales, capital spending, and employment for the next six months. If the index measures above fifty, sentiment is positive. The second-quarter survey's overall economic outlook index is 63.88. The results project confidence for the eighth quarter in a row.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 16, 2022) — Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped for the fifth consecutive month to 2.7 percent in May — down from 3.0 percent in April and from 4.5 percent one year ago. Job growth was mirrored in the Labor Force Participation Rate, which grew to 67.6 percent in May, up from 67.4 percent last month and 67.1 percent a year ago. The US May unemployment rate remained at 3.6 percent.
