DES MOINES, IOWA (February 11, 2025)  The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index fell by 2.3 points in January to 102.8. This is the third consecutive month above the 51-year average of 98. The Uncertainty Index rose fourteen points to 100 — the third-highest recorded reading — after two months of decline.

DeWITT, IOWA (February 11, 2025) — Farmers and ranchers in Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott counties will be receiving $5.3 million in cash-back dividends returned by Farm Credit Services of America (FCSAmerica) as part of the financial cooperative’s patronage program, paying 1% back as a cash-back dividend. Eligible customer-owners were issued cash-back dividend checks the last week of January.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 29, 2025) — The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) and Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH), a national leader in supportive housing, today announced that seven teams will participate in Iowa’s inaugural Iowa Supportive Housing Institute. The Institute is a six-month training series that will focus on developing strategic and income-targeted affordable housing with support services for those Iowans with the highest needs who are also experiencing homelessness.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 29, 2025) — Governor Kim Reynolds introduced the Unemployment Insurance Reform Bill to the Iowa House and Senate.

Gov Reynolds proposes lowering the maximum tax rate to the lowest allowed by federal law (5.4%), cutting the taxable wage base by half, and simplifying the unemployment insurance system by reducing the number of tax tables.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 27, 2025) — With tax-filing season soon upon us, the Iowa Department of Revenue is reminding Iowans of the many resources available that can assist tax-payers with filing their tax return. The Department will begin processing individual income returns at the same time as the IRS on January 27. Iowa tax-payers are required to provide their federal return with their Iowa return. Iowa income tax returns are due on April 30.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 14, 2025) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Small Business Optimism Index rose by 3.4 points in December to 105.1, the second consecutive month above the 51-year average of 98 and the highest reading since October 2018. Of the 10 Optimism Index components, seven increased, two decreased, and one was unchanged. The Uncertainty Index declined twelve points in December to 86.
