Augustana Students, Staff Assisting QC Tax Filers

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (February 6, 2024) — Twelve Augustana College students are assisting local residents file their tax returns through the United Way Quad Cities Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) Coalition. Olivia Melton, associate professor of accounting, said the initiative serves Quad Cities’ residents and benefits students, who gain problem-solving experience.

Jenna Willet of Eldridge, Iowa (52748), Named to the University of Hartford's President's List AND Dean's List

WEST HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT (February 5, 2024) — The University of Hartford is pleased to announce Jenna Willet of Eldridge, Iowa (52748), has been named to its President's List and its Dean's List for Fall 2023.

The President's List is made up of an extremely select group of students who earned a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher in the semester. This is the GPA that must be sustained over a full undergraduate career to qualify for a degree summa cum laude.

Monmouth College Professor Chris Fasano to Help Physics Students Chart Their Careers as an APS Career Mentoring Fellow

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (February 5, 2024) — For years, Monmouth College professor Chris Fasano has been an advocate of studying physics, calling the field "great career preparation, and great preparation for life."

Now, Fasano will continue that advocacy in an official role, as he's been named a "Career Mentoring Fellow" of the American Physical Society for 2023-24.

Local Central College Students Named to Dean's List

PELLA, IOWA (February 1, 2024) — Central College recognized 408 students who were named to the Fall 2023 Dean's List.

The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking twelve or more graded credit hours for the semester.

Iowa Printmaking Professor's Work on Display at Monmouth College in “Pseudofossils” Show Through March 7

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (February 1, 2024) — "Pseudofossils," an exhibit of works by University of Iowa printmaking professor Terry Conrad, is now on display at Monmouth College.

The exhibit in the Len G Everett Gallery on the upper level of Monmouth's Hewes Library will run through March 7, when Conrad will be on campus for a closing reception and gallery talk, beginning at 3PM. The exhibit, reception and talk are all free and open to the public.
