UNIVERSITY, MISSISSIPPI (May 10, 2023) — Elizabeth Howard, of Muscatine, Iowa, majoring in Mathematics, was among the more than eighty University of Mississippi students who were inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious undergraduate honors organization in the liberal arts. The university held an induction ceremony on April 14, 2023, at Johnson Commons on campus.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 10, 2023) — Four Iowa high-school students have been named to the 59th class of US Presidential Scholars, one of the nation’s highest honors for high-school students. The program recognizes up to 161 high-school seniors from across the country for their accomplishments in academics, the arts, and career and technical education fields.

DUBUQUE, IOWA (May 9, 2023) — Eight University of Dubuque students will conduct research with faculty on topics such as the impact of technological addiction on college student motivation or partake in internships in their intended profession in areas such as land management this summer through the John and Alice Butler Summer Research Fellowship.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (May 9, 2023) — A dozen Augustana College seniors are exhibiting their work at Wallenberg Hall at the Rock Island campus as part of the annual senior art show.

Each work is accompanied by a statement sharing the artist's perspectives and intentions. The exhibit continues through May 14. More information is available at the Augustana Center for Visual Culture.

DUBUQUE, IOWA (May 8, 2023) – Sixteen University of Dubuque students and recent graduates will research topics from cellular metal contamination and tolerance in crayfish to Iowa’s fair cross section guarantee in jury pools through the Joseph and Linda Chlapaty Summer Research Fellowship.

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (May 8, 2023) — Featuring an address by former US Representative Richard A Gephardt, Monmouth College will hold its 166th annual Commencement Exercises on Sunday, May 14.

Gephardt will deliver the Commencement address to about 185 members of the Class of 2023 at noon on the Wallace Hall Plaza, weather permitting. The rain site will be the Huff Athletic Center.

IOWA CITY, IOWA (May 8, 2023) — Fourteen University of Iowa students and alumni were chosen from about 10,000 Fulbright Award applicants nationwide to serve as representatives of the US Department of State in eleven countries during the 2023-24 academic year. The students will teach English abroad, serve in local community organizations, enroll in graduate studies at cutting-edge universities, and conduct research.
