City of Davenport will observe Memorial Day as a holiday on Monday, May 29, 2017. All City of Davenport offices & the Public Works Center will be closed. Police Department front desk and records office will be closed. Library Main, Fairmount and Eastern branches will be closed. Parks and Recreation administrative offices will be closed. River’s Edge will be open. Vander Veer Conservatory will be closed. Adler Theatre box office will be closed. CitiBus service will not be provided.
This year's Iowa Quad Cities Law Enforcement Camp will be June 12 - June 16 at the Davenport Police Department; 416 Harrison Street. The camp is for anyone ages 16 to 24 interested in a career in law enforcement.
Spaces are limited to the first 30 approved applicants so get your applications before the June 1st deadline.

ROCK ISLAND – Broadway Historic District’s Spring Clean Up will be Saturday, May 20, 2016. Participants should meet at 908 20th St., Rock Island, in the alley at 8:30 a.m.

Broadway hosts cleanups twice a year to help reduce litter in the historic neighborhood which borders downtown Rock Island and to bring residents together.

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein along with 62 bipartisan colleagues today introduced a resolution to commemorate National Police Week.

(DES MOINES) – Today, Gov. Terry E. Branstad took action on 10 bills. The action taken represents the conclusion of bill action resulting from the 2017 legislative session.  The action comes before the deadline of May 22, 2017.  Gov. Branstad signed Senate File 516 last, marking this the last bill action likely taken as governor of Iowa. 

Beginning Tuesday, May 16th, Division St will be closed at the I-80 overhead for guardrail updates. This closure is expected to last through Tuesday, May 30th. Alternate routes to the Davenport Soccer Complex are:
- From the west, Northwest Blvd, to Hillandale Rd, to Slopertown Rd to 155th Ave (Division St). - From the east, Brady St to E 90th Street exit (Mt. Joy exit) to Slopertown Rd to 155th Ave (Division St).

CHICAGO - Governor Bruce Rauner today announced he has made an appointment to the Teachers’ Retirement System Board of Trustees and reappointments to the Illinois Tollway.

A new Iowa law goes into effect July 1, 2017, requiring motorists to slow down, safely change lanes if possible and operate with caution around waste and recycling trucks with safety lights flashing. The law echoes cautions already in place for motorists passing a stopped public safety vehicle, and drivers could be cited by law enforcement for violating the new law.
