ILLINOIS CITY, ILLINOIS (May 27, 2021) — Boat rentals on Lake George at Loud Thunder Forest Preserve are opening for the first time this season on Friday, May 26, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. From canoes and kayaks to jon boats and pontoons, Loud Thunder Forest Preserve offers a wide variety of boats to choose from. Rentals are offered Wednesday through Sunday, 8AM-7PM, with the last rental to go out at 6PM.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 21, 2021) — River Action’s riverfront scavenger-hunt is an event created for fun outdoors while maintaining social-distance. Get some exercise in the month of June by searching for the solutions to 36 clues at our riverfront landmarks. DES MOINES, IOWA (March 5, 2021) — The Keep Iowa Beautiful (KIB) Board of Directors announced the following award winners for 2021. Governor Kim Reynolds will present the awards at a ceremony at the State Capitol on Tuesday, March 30, 3PM. The Governor will be signing a proclamation kicking off April as Keep Iowa Beautiful month.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 26, 2021) — State Auditor Rob Sand announced a review of solar-energy projects at Iowa’s schools, cities, and other public entities. A total of eighty communities are currently using solar-energy installations across the state. Those participating in this review reported annual savings as high as $80,000. The average annual savings was more than $26,475, and the average savings over the lifetime of the installation was $716,437.
