DES MOINES, IOWA (June 17, 2024) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced her appointment of Donna Bothwell as a district judge in Judicial District 4.

Bothwell, of Logan, Iowa, is a district associate judge in Judicial District 4. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and law degree from Drake University.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 13, 2024) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency is hiring Iowa residents to support the severe weather recovery efforts.

Positions include Site Inspectors and Public Assistance Program Delivery Manager. The temporary positions are for 120 days and may be extended, in 120-day increments, for a maximum 365-day appointment, based on the needs of the disaster.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 3, 2024) — HF 2568 has been signed into law by Governor Kim Reynolds in a ceremony at the Iowa Statehouse. The bill was championed by the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, AARP Iowa, researchers at the University of Iowa Injury Prevention Research Center, and bike shops and clubs across Iowa. It extends critical protections to benefit everyone who uses crosswalks, including all forms of pedestrians, cyclists, and people using any other mobility device or personal conveyance.

WASHINGTON, DC (April 22, 2024) — The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has published a Federal Flood Risk Management Standard (FFRMS) final rule in the Federal Register to help communities prepare for and reduce flood damage. This rule aims to protect communities from flood risk, heavy storms, increased frequency of severe weather events and disasters, changes in development patterns, and erosion.
