DES MOINES, IOWA (March 25, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds announced that Peggy A Whitson, space and science consultant and former astronaut, will be the afternoon keynote speaker for the Governor’s 2019 Future Ready Iowa Summit titled “STEM Education + Workplace Partnerships.”

The statewide event, which is open to the public, will take place on Tuesday, April 30, at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. The Governor’s STEM Advisory Council will host the event.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 25, 2019) — As a result of President Trump's Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for public and individual assistance for residents of Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Monona, and Woodbury counties in Iowa, disaster unemployment-assistance (DUA) is now available in those counties. DUA expands eligibility for unemployment benefits and provides assistance to the self-employed including business owners and farmers.

WASHINGTON DC (March 23, 2019) — Senator Charles "Chuck" Grassley of Iowa today said that President Donald Trump has issued an expedited major disaster declaration for 56 Iowa counties in response to severe storms and flooding which began March 12, 2019. This declaration triggers the release of federal funds to help communities in Iowa recover from the catastrophic flooding.
