Invites bipartisan cooperation on oversight; suits against the president implicate former Secretary of State

                                                                                           

I've been traveling the state, talking about how we need to get Iowa growing by investing in education.

It looks to me like things are getting worse.

This is a headline in the Des Moines Register: "Iowa State University seeks 7 percent annual tuition hike for each of the next 5 years."

The Iowa Federation of Labor will be hosting a Forum of the current candidates for Governor.

All currently announced candidates have been invited.

Those that have accepted the invite are: Nate Boulton (D); Cathy Glasson (D); Andy McGuire (D); Jon Neiderbach (D); John Norris (D); Jake Porter (L); Todd Pritchard (D); Steven Ray (R); and Brent Roske (I).

Committee will Reconvene Hearing Thursday Morning                                                                                  

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley today released the following statement on the Democrat leadership’s abuse of a rarely used procedural tool, shuttering a hearing on attempts by foreign agents to influence American laws and elections.

WASHINGTON – Facing a subpoena to appear at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday, Paul Manafort began producing documents today to the Judiciary Committee and committed to negotiating in good faith a date for a future interview before the committee.  Following the agreement, the Committee has agreed to withdraw the subpoena compelling his presence at tomorrow’s hearing.

Dr. Christopher Peters is hosting an event in Walcott on Thursday, July 27th to announce his plans for the 2018 election.

Dr. Peters is a U.S. Army veteran, a practicing surgeon, and a small business owner in Coralville. He was the Republican nominee for U.S. House in 2016.
