On Thursday, November 13th, 2014 Quad Cities Interfaith will host its 6th Annual Individual Donor Breakfast from 7:30am to 8:30am in the Rogalski Center Ballroom at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA. This event is free to the public but attendees will be asked to make a financial donation in support the organization.

This one-hour event will highlight QCI's work this year and ask the community for their support. We will be honoring Ms. Judith Morrell, former Director of the Davenport Civil Rights Commission with the 2014 Marvin Mottet Award. This award is named after long time Quad Cities Interfaith leader and co-founder Msgr. Marvin Mottet and is given to a member of the community who has demonstrated a commitment to and worked for social justice in the Quad Cities area.

Also, Reverend Ron Stewart, long time pastor of Broadway Presbyterian Church in Rock Island will be awarded the QCI Presidents Award for his significant contributions to Quad Cities Interfaith and the community in his six years as President.

We will be hearing from Black Hawk College and from a graduate from the Highway Construction Careers Training Program (HCCTP). The program designed to increase access to highway construction jobs for minorities, women, and disadvantaged individuals. Through QCI's work this program was delivered to the Quad Cities Area.

(Rock Island, IL) - Employees of Royal Neighbors of America will present more than 300 Baskets of Hope to social service agencies that serve women of the Quad Cities. The baskets were created as part of Royal Neighbors' observance of Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service which was on Oct. 25.

The baskets will be delivered on Wednesday, Oct. 29 and Monday, Nov. 3. The baskets are filled with personal care and household items as well as inspirational books to help empower women as they build a better life.

Zion Lutheran Church, Princeton, Iowa, is holding its 10th annual Harvest Feast Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Princeton Community Center, 428 S. River Drive.

The celebration runs from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m.

The dinner features a homemade menu of beef stew made with locally raised Sawyer beef, applesauce, breads, pies, and a wide variety of desserts and drinks. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 5 to 10 years old. Children younger than 4 are admitted for free.

Activities for the evening include a silent auction, wine tasting, a live auction at 6 p.m. and a supervised play table for children, plus the dinner. Teresa Kraft, a Cody Elementary School librarian and Zion Lutheran Sunday School teacher, will provide the children's activities and supervision.

The harvest celebration supports the church's local, national and international missions

Churches United of the Quad City Area is very happy to confirm that the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will arrive in Davenport on December 5, 2014, at 1:45 p.m., in support of our Hunger Ministry.

Included in this event will be hot chocolate & cookies, goodie bags for the children, local entertainment, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance between noon and 1:30! Please come early and enjoy the festivities, while we wait for the train!

The entertainer arriving on the Holiday Train this year is Kira Isabella, Juno (comparable to U.S. Grammy)-nominated country music artist, who performed on Carrie Underwood's Blown Away Tour. She also won the 2013 CCMA (Canadian Country Music Award) for Female Artist of the Year!

The Lions Club of LeClaire is involved in many various community improvement projects and programs. The Club has made donations to the LeClaire Police Department, LeClaire and Princeton Fire Departments, LeClaire Library, Levee improvements, Parks and Recreation, and more, and they provide a $1,000 college scholarship to a local Pleasant Valley high school student every year. They have offered financial support for the Freedom Rock project. Learn about the '48ers

Learn about the "Forty-eighters" at the German American Heritage Center on Sunday, November 2nd at 2 p.m. who were individuals who emigrated from Europe in the late 1840s & early 1850s after fighting unsuccessfully with both pen and sword for liberty, democracy, and national unity.  Many of the German Forty-eighters immigrated to the United States, with a large number from the present-day state of Schleswiwg-Holstein choosing Davenport & Scott County, Iowa, as their adopted home. www.gahc.org

Rock Island, IL: The Rock Island Public Library Foundation will offer guests a walk down the red carpet with the "Lights, Camera . . .Literacy," a Food for Thought celebration on Thursday, Nov. 13. The annual fundraising event takes place from 5:00 to 7:30 pm at the Rock Island Main Library, 401 19th Street.

Lights, Camera . . .Literacy! transforms the library into a star-studded night of dining, socializing and silent auction bidding. Admission includes food stations from guest chefs, complimentary soft drinks, wine and beer,  and musical entertainment by the Edgar Crocket Duo and Lee Blackman. Guests  will enjoy tastes of Rock Island served at multiple food stations, including selections from Martha Cleaveland of Blue Cat Brew Pub,  Eudell Watts, III, of Eudell's Specialty Foods, Chef Craig Joos of Hy-Vee, Chef Jose Zepeda of QC Coffee and Pancake House, Kitchen Express of the Thurgood Marshall Learning Center, and Annette Zapolis of Cool Beanz Coffee House.

Complimentary beverages include soft drinks and coffee, wine tasting selections personally selected by Thad Miller and craft brew samples from Dan Cleaveland of the Blue Cat Brew Pub.

The Main Library will be open to Food for Thought guests only that night, with admission payable at the door by cash, check or credit. The 10th annual fundraiser helps the Rock Island Public Library Foundation fulfill library requests for special programs and projects that are outside the Rock Island Library's standard operating budget. Foundation dollars support special purchases of materials and equipment, programs, beautification projects and building improvements. Rock Island Library literacy projects include introducing the My First Library Card, supporting the Empowering Potential reading program at Thurgood Marshall Learning Center, partnering with HeadStart, and bringing Little Free Libraries to high-need areas. Donations to the 501c3 Rock Island Public Library Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Downtown Davenport, Iowa, sparkles during the annual Quad City Arts Festival of Trees at the RiverCenter from Nov. 21-30. Festival of Trees features many beautiful, uniquely designed trees, stunning designer displays, handcrafted stockings and ornaments, a variety of miniature designs, special events, model train display, gingerbread village, and the North Pole children's activity center. Don't miss the magic!

There are additional ticketed events that happen in conjunction with the Festival of Trees. There is the Silver Bell Social for seniors, Grand Premiere Party, Sizzlin' Soiree for a girls night out, Sugarplum Ball for dads and daughters, Celebrity Lunch, Jingle Jam teen dance, and Family Days for military families. The Festival of Trees Holiday Parade on Saturday, Nov. 22 features over 20 large helium-filled character balloons, marching bands, the Distinguished Clown Corps, and participation from over 50 organizations. There are more balloons than Macy's! The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and goes through the streets of downtown Davenport.

Come to the John Deere Commons in downtown Moline, Illinois, on Nov. 22 and enjoy the free Lighting on the Commons ceremony from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Take a horse-drawn wagon ride; meet Santa and Mrs. Claus; listen to carolers; and warm-up with hot cocoa and cookies. Join in the festivities as nearly 1/2 million lights and fireworks brighten the skies at 5:45 p.m.

Back by popular demand, Cirque de la Symphonie returns for this year's Holiday Pops at the Adler Theatre in Davenport on Nov. 21-22 at 8 p.m. The Holiday Pops includes three performances, including a matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday perfect for the whole family. Artists include aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, and more. Performances also include the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, Quad City Symphony Youth Choir, and the Sanctuary Choir of First Presbyterian Church.

Enjoy a riverboat cruise on the Celebration Belle on Nov. 21 made festive with a family-oriented Christmas show with music, dance, and holiday food favorites.

Back by popular demand, Irving Berlin's White Christmas at the Circa 21 Dinner Playhouse in Rock Island is full of dancing, laughter and some of the greatest songs ever written including "Happy Holiday", "Sisters", "Blue Skies" and, of course, the legendary title song! Based on the popular movie, this musical promises to be a merry and bright theatrical experience for the whole family! White Christmas performance dates are Nov. 7 - Dec. 28.
