North Fayette Valley FFA Took Top Honors in Iowa State Fair Beef Competition

DES MOINES, IA (08/24/2017) (readMedia)-- FFA exhibitors competed in the Performance Beef Show judged Wednesday prior to the start of the 2017 Iowa State Fair. Entries were open to purebred, grade or crossbred market steers.

United Soybean Board Announces Polly Ruhland as New CEO

ST. LOUIS (August 23, 2017) – After an intensive search by a farmer-led team, the United Soybean Board (USB) has named Polly Ruhland as the new chief executive officer (CEO) effective November 1, 2017.

“Polly exceeded all of the attributes for what we as a board were looking for in a new CEO to lead us into the future,” says John Motter, USB chair and soybean farmer from Jenera, Ohio.

Gorham Sweeps Iowa State Fair FFA Rabbit Show

DES MOINES, IA (08/23/2017) (readMedia)-- Mariah Gorham of Carroll won Market Best of Show in the FFA Rabbit Show judged Thursday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

Brooklyn Housley of Wayne was awarded Breeding Best of Show.

A total of 34 exhibitors from 22 chapters showed 191 animals in this year's competition.

Secretary Perdue Announces Tony Tooke as New Forest Service Chief

DES MOINES, IA (08/21/2017) (readMedia)-- Webster Farms of Walker was awarded the Grand Champion Bull banner in the Angus Show judged Tuseday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

Schroeder Angus of Clarence claimed Reserve Champion Bull and Champion Iowa Bull titles.

Abby Collison of Rockwell City showed the Grand Champion Female as well as the Grand Champion Iowa Female.

Maddy Udell of Sioux City exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Female.
