Farm tenants and land owners are encouraged to attend August 15 in Bettendorf

Bettendorf, Iowa – Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Scott County is hosting a farmland leasing meeting on Tuesday August 15 at 6:00 PM, Scott County Extension Office, 875 Tanglefoot Lane in Bettendorf. The annual meeting is offered to address questions that land owners, tenants or other interested individuals have about leasing farmland.

The National Organic Program Hosts Organic Control Systems Training in Chile

DONAHUE, Iowa – A field day near Donahue, Iowa will share information about improving soil health to make farmland more productive, efficient and sustainable for the next generation. Farmers from the area and other experts will discuss how soil health impacts the business side of farming during the July 12 field day.

The event will focus on:

• Cover crop management and machinery set-up

• Herbicide and cover crop interactions

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has published the Sunset 2017 final rule.  

Removals from the National List. This final rule removes the following three synthetic substances and five nonorganic agricultural substances from the National List for use in organic production and handling.
