Rita Harvey in “Neil Berg's 103 Years of Broadway" at the University of Dubuque -- May 6.

Saturday, May 6, 7:30 p.m.

University of Dubuque's Heritage Center, 2255 Bennett Street, Dubuque IA

Arriving directly from New York and with his latest stage spectacular featuring Dubuque native Rita Harvey, the May 6 performance of Neil Berg's 103 Years of Broadway finds the producer/pianist/composer returning to the University of Dubuque's Heritage Center alongside a cast of stars from history's greatest musicals, with Berg sharing the songs and stories behind the music that helped change the world.

A followup to Berg's 100 Years of Broadway and his touring hit 50 Years of Rock & Roll that played the Heritage Center in 2020, Neil Berg's 103 Years of Broadway will recreate the greatest moments from the finest shows of the century, in a performance featuring actual New York cast members from beloved musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, West Side Story, Wicked, numerous entries from the canon of Rodgers and Hammerstein, and many more.
Assisting Berg in presenting brilliantly revived arrangements of Broadway classics as well as thrilling numbers from Broadway’s newest hit shows, Dubuque native Rita Harvey is a Broadway actress, singer, and performer who is the principal soprano in Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway. Harvey performed the role of Hodel in the Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof directed by David Leveaux, and made her Broadway début with the role of Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera. Additionally, Harvey has performed in concert with such stars as Rob Evan, Liz Calloway, Betty Buckley, Ben Vereen, Craig Schulman, Lillias White, Rita Moreno, and Michael Crawford.

Among myriad credits, Berg is the composer/co-lyricist of the Henry Award-winning musical The 12, which premiered at the Denver Center and was written in collaboration with Pulitzer Prize- and Tony-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan. Berg also composed Grumpy Old Men: The Musical, which opened to rave reviews for its U.S. premieres at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine and La Mirada Theatre in Los Angeles, and recently enjoyed a successful run at Rock Island's Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse. The composer's other works include the hit off-Broadway musical The Prince & the Pauper; Tim & Scrooge, which ran at the Westchester Broadway Theatre in New York; Never Grimm; and The Man Who Would Be King. Berg was also the co-producer of off-Broadway's Alliance Award-Winning revival of Closer Than Ever.

Neil Berg's 103 Years of Broadway will be performed in the John & Alice Butler Hall of the University of Dubuque's Heritage Center on May 6, admission is $31-29, and more information and tickets are available by calling (563)585-7469 and visiting Dbq.edu/heritagecenter.
