In the key Persons 25-54 demographic sought after by advertisers, KWQC-TV6 also won every newscast.  At 6 a.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m., KWQC-TV6 more than doubled the ratings of its closest competitors in that demographic.

"We're proud that we've earned the trust of so many people in the Quad Cities," said KWQC-TV6 news director Rich Kurz. "Viewers here have counted on us for years, and these ratings are proof that we're continuing to connect with them every day."

"Wheel of Fortune" continues to be a strong performer, winning the 6:30 p.m. time slot in both Persons 25-54 and total households.  NBC was the place to be both in the mornings and in late night.  "The Today Show" continued to be the highest-rated network morning show in the Quad Cities, both in total households and in persons 25-54.

Meanwhile, "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" more than doubled its ratings from the July 2015 ratings period, and had ratings three times those of its late-night network competition combined in the persons 25-54 demographic.

Locally, it was also a strong ratings period for "Paula Sands Live," which posted its highest ratings in more than a year.

KWQC-TV6, The Station That Serves Illinois and Iowa Every Day, will host its annual Toys For Tots "Drive Up and Drop Off" on Thursday, December 3rd from 6AM - 6:30PM.

KWQC-TV6 is pleased to once again partner with the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve in collecting toys for less fortunate children in the community who may otherwise go without gifts this Christmas.

U.S. Marines, TV6 staff, and volunteers will be on hand outside of the KWQC Broadcast Center located at 805 Brady St., Davenport, IA to receive donations.  Anyone who would like to donate can simply drive up and hand off their donation without leaving their vehicle.

The U.S Marine Corp Reserves is asking for new, unwrapped toys preferably around the $10 or above price range. There is a particular need for gifts appropriate for boys and girls ages 6 months - 2 years and 10-12 years. Monetary donations are accepted and will be sent to the Toys For Tots foundation in Quantico, Virginia for accounting purposes where they will then be deposited to a local account designated for use in the Q.C.A.

The following items cannot be accepted by the program and will not be distributed: stuffed animals, realistic looking guns or weapons, food, or clothing.

Traffic flow through the TV6 driveway will be reversed this year due to Brady St. still being two-lane traffic at the time of the event. Drivers will need to enter from Perry St. and exit turning north on to Brady St.

More information on the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve "Toys For Tots" program can be found at http://quad-cities.toysfortots.org.

No large-market station in Iowa earned more awards than KWQC-TV6 at the Iowa Broadcast News Association this past weekend.

The station earned the coveted Overall Excellence award, as well as first-place awards for Political Coverage, Best Investigative/In-depth (reporter Mark Stevens for "Flood Insurance Reform"), and Spot News Coverage ("Quad Cities Flash Flooding").

KWQC's Gary Metivier earned a second-place award for Overall Excellence in Anchoring.  The station's digital team took home second place for Overall Best Use of Media for its coverage of the 2014 Bix-7 road race.  KWQC also got second place in the Best Newscast category.

Third place wins for KWQC include News Photography (Mike Ortiz for "Frels Garden Railroad") and Farm and Agribusiness stories (Courtney Yuen and Randy Biery for "Calamus Harvest Hope").

"We work hard every day to bring the best, most complete news to all of our viewers who count on us every day," said KWQC-TV6 news director Rich Kurz.  "This is just another mark of our success in doing that, and it feels great to see our peers across the country recognize it."

Any station that broadcasts into Iowa is eligible for the IBNA awards.  KWQC-TV6 competes in the large market category against stations from Des Moines and the Waterloo/Cedar Rapids/Iowa City/Dubuque markets.

KWQC-TV6 has become aware that some DIRECTV subscribers have been unable to receive Channel 6 since last week.

The TV6 engineering staff has looked into the issue and it appears to be a software glitch on DIRECTV's end.  The issue only affects some models of DIRECTV set-top receivers.  We understand that DIRECTV is aware of the problem.

Some KWQC-TV6 viewers have reported restoration of Channel 6 after pressing the red reset button on their receiver.  Others reported success after resetting and unplugging their receiver.

Contrary to some previous reports, there is no contract dispute between KWQC-TV6 or NBC and DIRECTV.

KWQC-TV6 is freely available to the community and can be received with an over-the-air antenna.

Updates regarding the situation will be posted at www.kwqc.com.
