City of Davenport Names Parks and Recreation Director

DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 16, 2026) — The City of Davenport is pleased to announce that Becca Niles will serve as the new Parks and Recreation Director. In this role, Niles will continue to lead and oversee the Parks and Recreation Department’s operations, including parks, recreation programs, and open spaces. She recently served as the Interim Director after Chad Dyson’s departure in June 2026.

Robert (Bob) Inghram Appointed to Second Ward Alderman Seat

DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 15, 2026) — During the October 14 Special City Council meeting, the Davenport City Council appointed Robert (Bob) Inghram to serve as the Second Ward Alderman.

He will hold this position until the next city election in November 2027; unless a petition for a Second Ward special election is received.

Inghram brings 32 years of service on the City’s Plan and Zoning Commission, including the past five years as Chairman.

Davenport Fire Department Holds Fire Station Open Houses October 17

DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 14, 2026) — The Davenport Fire Department is excited to welcome the community to its upcoming Fire Station Open Houses!

On Saturday, October 17, 9-11AM, community members are invited to visit any Davenport fire station for a behind-the-scenes look at their local firehouse.

Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the station, explore fire apparatus up close, and learn more about the important services and operations each station provides.

Haunted Island Returns to Credit Island for a Day of Halloween Fun and Fright

DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 13, 2026) — Davenport Parks and Recreation invites the community to celebrate spooky season at Haunted Island on Saturday, October 24, at Credit Island Park, located at 2200 West River Drive. Admission is free, with donations encouraged to support Scott County Special Olympics and Davenport Parks and Recreation’s scholarship programming.

Davenport City Administrator Tim Gleason Resigns

DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 5, 2026) — The City of Davenport accepted Tim Gleason’s resignation to pursue other professional opportunities.

The City appreciates Mr. Gleason’s work for the citizens of Davenport over the term of his service.

Nicole Gleason will fill the role of Acting City Administrator while City Council discusses next steps.

Nicole has served as the Assistant City Administrator/Public Works Director since 2018.

City Council Elects to Proceed with Filling Ward 2 Vacancy

DAVENPORT, IOWA (September 24, 2026) — The City Council elects to proceed with filling the Ward 2 vacancy by appointment pursuant to Iowa Code § 372.13(2)(a). Individuals seeking appointment to the vacant Ward 2 seat shall submit a letter of interest and résumé, together with any letters of recommendation, to secondward@davenportiowa.com and/or the Deputy City Clerk no later than 5PM on October 2, 2026.
