Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack announced today that his office is now accepting applications for nomination to the U.S. Service Academies for the 2018 freshman class. Each year, Congressman Loebsack may nominate up to five Iowans for each Academy, with the final selection for admission made by the individual Academy. Applications are due to Loebsack’s office no later than October 31st, 2017.

NOTE: This evening, Congress is expected to vote on the repeal of the ACA before leaving for the weekend. There is a possibility that Congress may be in session late Friday and into the weekend, which would mean Loebsack would miss these events. Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack released the following statement after House Republicans pushed back a scheduled vote on their plan to repeal the ACA. Republican leaders have been saying for the past week that there would be a vote on their repeal bill this evening. 

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack released the following statement today after the Mahaska Health Partnership hospital in Oskaloosa announced it had closed its inpatient psychiatric unit. Rural areas in Iowa and across the country are facing a critical shortage of options to help treat those suffering from mental health problems.

Washington, D.C. – At a recent Communications and Technology Subcommittee hearing, Congressman Dave Loebsack led the call for a direct investment in expanding both fixed and mobile broadband, especially in rural areas. He also called for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to provide more reliable data to map and target where additional broadband access is needed.

Each year, Loebsack nominates up to ten Iowans for every opening at each Academy, with final selection for admission made by the individual Academy from that group of ten.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack will be visiting Unity Point Trinity Bettendorf Campus, MONDAY, MARCH 13th. At the meeting, Dave will meet with staff and administrators to discuss legislation that impacts hospitals, as well as what effect repealing the ACA would have on them.
