MUSCATINE, IOWA (October 13, 2020) — A series of new short films will introduce Muscatine Access Channel Nine viewers and other local residents to Muscatine Civil War soldier, Daniel Parvin. "Muscatine and the Civil War: The Letters of Daniel Parvin" will premiere on October 23. The short film features actors Bryce Taylor as Daniel Parvin and Courtney Gevaert as his wife, Sarah Parvin.


MUSCATINE, IOWA (May 28, 2020) — The opening of the exhibition, “Till Death: Wedding and Mourning Traditions,” has been anticipated by Muscatine Art Center insiders for the last few years. Now that the exhibition is the first on view following a closure of several months, staff hopes the stunning historic gowns will bring the return of visitors.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (March 2, 2020) — Living Proof Exhibit is a non-profit that provides the therapeutic benefits of the arts to cancer patients, survivors, families, and caregivers. The Muscatine Art Center and Living Proof Exhibit begin its partnership in 2017. The partnership has grown with the Muscatine Art Center hosting the fall 2019 juried exhibition, “A Visualization of Hope”, with the works of over 30 cancer survivors represented.

In addition to Mini Masters for the youngest learners and Kids’ Saturday Workshops for school-aged kids, free spring break activities and events for families are on the calendar.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (January 8, 2020) — The Muscatine Art Center will host A Visual Arts Retrospective by Dan Rohde, January 11 through March 8, 2020. The exhibition will be on view in the historic Musser-McColm mansion. “Though it is impossible for me to see my art projects through others’ eyes, I hope these images and forms can be appreciated as original creative efforts,” commented Rohde.

STEAM is designed to combine STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with various education disciplines, aiming to teach students innovation, critical-thinking, and to use engineering and technology towards creative approaches to real-world problems.
