DES MOINES, IOWA (January 29, 2025) — Governor Kim Reynolds introduced the Unemployment Insurance Reform Bill to the Iowa House and Senate.

Gov Reynolds proposes lowering the maximum tax rate to the lowest allowed by federal law (5.4%), cutting the taxable wage base by half, and simplifying the unemployment insurance system by reducing the number of tax tables.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 24, 2025) — Governor Kim Reynolds has released a bill to restrict students’ cell-phone use during instructional time. The bill establishes a floor, or a minimum standard, that all Iowa school districts will be required to adopt by July 1, 2025.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 16, 2025) — Governor Kim Reynolds has released the Families First Bill to the Iowa House and Senate.

Gov Reynolds is proposing four weeks of paid maternity leave and one week of paid paternity leave for state employees.

Gov Reynolds is also proposing four weeks of paid leave for state employees who adopt a child. Currently, the state offers no paid parental leave to its employees who are caring for a new child.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 8, 2025) — On Tuesday, January 7, Governor Kim Reynolds issued a proclamation to ease restrictions on transportation of heating and motor fuels.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 7, 2025) — Governor Kim Reynolds and Iowa HHS announce the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved the State’s extension of postpartum coverage for new mothers.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 7, 2025) — Governor Kim Reynolds has signed an extension of the proclamation relating to the weight limits and transportation of grain, fertilizer, and manure.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 6, 2025) — On Saturday, January 4, Governor Kim Reynolds provided the following statement on the one-year anniversary of the tragic shooting at Perry High School that killed two and injured six others:
