DAVENPORT, IOWA (August 23, 2022) — The Iowa Department of Education, Bureau of Nutrition and Health Services, has finalized its policy for free and reduced-price meals for children unable to pay the full price of meals served under the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Special Milk Program, and the Afterschool Care Snack Program.

State and Local school officials have adopted the following family size and income criteria for determining eligibility:

DAVENPORT, IOWA (August 5, 2022) — For the first time ever, the Davenport Community School District will have a sanctioned girls’ wrestling team. Josh Park has been named the head coach and will oversee wrestlers from Davenport North, Central and West High Schools.

Esports, competitive video gaming, has become a huge industry over the past decade, with many schools across the world founding their own teams to compete against rival schools.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 8, 2022) — Davenport Community School District is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. The program runs June 13-July 29, 2022 (there will be no meals on July 4 for the holiday). Children 1-18 can receive a meal with no qualifications or registration needed.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 10, 2022) — The Davenport Community School District has announced the first-in the-nation Airframe Mechanic Registered Apprenticeship Program with Elliott Aviation and the Davenport Central High School’s Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (iJAG) Program. Students in this Registered Apprenticeship will be earning while they learn about aircraft maintenance in a hands-on, real-world environment with Elliott Aviation’s certified employees.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 9, 2022) — Courtney Olsen has been hired as the Director of Equity and Learning Supports for the Davenport Community School District.

Olsen holds an Education Specialist degree in School Psychology and holds the Director of Special Education endorsement.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 1, 2022) — The Mayors Quad City Young Adult Hiring Fair will be taking place tomorrow, March 2, 12–5PM, at the TaxSlayer Center. The event will introduce high-school and college students to local businesses looking for entry-level and summer employees. Mayors will gather at noon to open the event and will be available for interviews afterward.
