DES MOINES, IOWA (September 13, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds issued the following statement today after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a formal repeal of the 2015 Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule:

“The 2015 WOTUS rule was egregious Washington overreach that would have subjected a puddle of water to federal government control.

DES MOINES, IOWA (September 12, 2019) — The State Board of Education today approved performance levels that determine how many students met expectations on Iowa’s new state test, the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP).

DES MOINES, IOWA (September 10, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds ordered all flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, in honor of Patriot Day and in memory of those who lost their lives in the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Flags will also be half-staff on all public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state.

DES MOINES, IOWA (September 5, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds announced Thursday that she will appoint Kelly Kennedy Garcia, currently deputy executive commissioner of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, as director of the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS). Garcia will be relocating from Austin, Texas and begins her new role on November 1.
