DAVENPORT, IOWA (July 18, 2023) — The Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) Associate is pleased to announce the appointment of Benjamin Firer as Interim QCSYE Music Director. An award-winning conductor, Firer is the assistant conductor with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Director at Northeastern Illinois University. He received his Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree from Yale University.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 24, 2023) — The Quad City Symphony Orchestra’s Volunteers for Symphony (VfS) is one of four volunteer organizations chosen by the Volunteer Council of the League of American Orchestras to receive a Spotlight Award for its 2021-22 Car Raffle. While this was VfS’s first Car Raffle, they sold 546 $100 tickets, which generated $22,000 of support for the QCSO’s music education programs.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 11, 2023) — The Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) is pleased to announce that world-renowned pianist Emanuel Ax will be the featured Gala Guest Artist during the upcoming 2023-24 season. The multi-Grammy®-award-winning artist will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Concertos N° 25 (K503) and N° 20 (K466). The QCSO will bookend these works with Gustav Mahler’s Blumine and Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird: Suite.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 4, 2022) — This concert rich with royalty begins with Duke Ellington’s jazz and gospel-influenced Three Black Kings. QCSO principal cellist Hannah Holman will captivate with the rich and haunting cello soliloquies of Ernest Bloch’s Schelomo, the final work of his Jewish Cycle. The King of Rock and Roll’s signature sound is alive and well in Michael Daugherty’s Dead Elvis featuring QCSO principal bassoonist Benjamin Coelho.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 7, 2022) — The Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) is one of thirty orchestras taking part in the League of American Orchestras’ Virginia B Toulmin Foundation Orchestral Commissions Program. The unprecedented national consortium ensures that new works by women composers, each commissioned by the League, will be infused in orchestra seasons to come, with multiple performances throughout the country.
