DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 26, 2020) — The Humane Society of Scott County of announces it has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support purchase of new medical equipment to care for lost, abandoned, and unwanted animals in Scott County.

The Petco Foundation investment will help to purchase upgraded equipment that is typically used upon intake of animals and to monitor their health during their stay at the shelter.

Visit with over 25 local pet-related business and services, buy those summer must-haves for your pet, gather samples and coupons, enjoy live music and food vendors, and watch your pet make new friends along the way.

Sam’s Club will be donating over $2,500 in pet supplies on Tuesday morning to the Humane Society of Scott County.

“The need for donations increases during the winter months,” said Ryan Wille of the Humane Society of Scott County. “We tend to find more stray animals this time of year. When you feed 300 animals up to three times a day, you run through so much food so this donation is just what we needed for the holidays.”

The Quad City Botanical Center is holding its annual plant sale to benefit their education department.  Each year, over 9,000 school aged children experience the gardens at the Center by taking part in various programs ranging from greenhouse tours to lessons on the water cycle. 
Two local non-profit organizations, The Quad City Botanical Center and Family Resources are partnering to plant a 1,200 square foot community vegetable garden on Davenport's East Side on the grounds of the Annie Wittenmyer Complex. With the generous support of The Amy Helpenstell Foundation, Arconic, and Eastern Iowa Community College, this garden will be planted Saturday, May 13th.

Spring has arrived at the Quad City Botanical Center! Throughout the month of April, the QCBC will be hosting a variety of spring related events and activities for the whole community to enjoy. We start off Spring with our April Showers and April Flowers Sunday Family Funday on April 2nd.
