ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 2, 2019) — The following Augustana students completed internships across the nation this summer, ranging from working with big corproations to nonprofit organizations

Augustana College's CORE (Careers, Opportunities, Research, and Exploration) is a one-stop shop to help prepare students for impactful internships, research, and study-away programs. Augustana firmly believes that experiences outside of the classroom create well-rounded graduates that are ready for the workforce. Augustana students are also eligible for Augie Choice, a $2000 grant that supports internships, research, or study-away programs. Students have used this to live in New York while interning for CBS, travel to Australia, conduct ground-breaking medical research in Texas, and more.

Ashley Mancera of East Moline (61244) interned at Augustana College Center for Speech, Language, and Hearing.

Kyle Barkalow of Rock Island (61201) interned at Fresh Films.

Founded in 1860, Augustana College is a selective four-year residential college of the liberal arts and sciences. The college is recognized for the innovative program Augie Choice, which provides each student up to $2,000 to pursue a high-impact learning-experience such as study-abroad, an internship, or research with a professor. Current students and alumni include 170 Academic All-Americans, two Nobel laureates, 13 college presidents, and other distinguished leaders. The college enrolls 2,500 students and is located along one of the world's most important waterways, the Mississippi River, in a community that reflects the diversity of the United States.
