DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 26, 2019) — Alligator tamales, shrimp and crab arancini, red beans and rice, po’ boys, collard greens, pistachio beignets, shrimp etouffee, chicken and sausage gumbo, and Cajun braised beef are just a few of the dishes you will be able to sample at the Cajun Cook-Off to benefit the Figge Art Museum.

This year’s Cajun Cook-Off will take place on Fat Tuesday, March 5, 5-8PM, at the Rhythm City Casino Event Center in Davenport. Twelve local chefs will be cooking Cajun creations that attendees will be able to sample and vote for their favorite. Tickets are $35 in advance at www.figgeartmuseum.org or $40 the day of the event or at the door.

Participating chefs include: Chef Aaron McMahon from Davenport Country Club; Chef Tara Elkins from The Diner; Chef Patrick Trainor from Biaggi’s; Chef Marc Pilichowski from Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse; Chef Travis Seibel from the Figge Café; Chef Jason Stewart from Zeke’s Island Café; Chef David Hipkins from Thunder Bay; Chef Gary Ames from Rhythm City Casino; Chef Laticia Howlett from Bayside Bistro; Chef James Steffen from Crow Valley Country Club; Chef Preston LeMaire from Isle Casino Bettendorf; and Chef Shill Hunter from What BBQ & Bar.

Guests will be able to get in the Mardi Gras spirit with themed photos, beads, festive music, cash bar, and a live auction. Emceed by KWQC-TV6’s Emily Blume, the live auction provides guests an opportunity to bid on a variety of culinary experiences with all proceeds going towards art acquisitions and programs at the museum.

This is the 7th year the Cajun Cook-Off will benefit the Figge Art Museum and the first year being held at Rhythm City Casino. “Over the last few years the event started to outgrow the Figge’s Quad City Bank and Trust Grand Lobby, so this new venue allows us to add more chefs and accommodate more people,” said Marketing and Communications spokesperson Natalie Dunlop. In addition, all guests will receive free valet parking and coat check upon arrival.

The Cajun Cook-Off is sponsored by Rhythm City Casino, Quad-City Times, KWQC-TV6 and WVIK.
