MOLINE, ILLINOIS (June 30, 2025) — The Black Box Theatre located in downtown Moline is holding a three-day Solo Fringe Festival featuring solo artists.
What is a Fringe Festival? It’s an event that showcases various forms of performance art, including theater, dance, and music. The term “fringe” originally stemmed from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which started in 1947 as an informal gathering of artists and performers who weren’t part of the main Edinburgh International Festival. These artists decided to put on their shows on the fringe — and that’s how a fringe festival was born.
Black Box Artistic Director, Lora Adams said “Typically, participating artists and companies pay a fee to perform at the festival, which usually covers the venue and promotion. In this case, the artist will be paid, and The Black Box Theatre will provide a single location for additional marketing support in addition to the artists’ own marketing.”
Solo artists interested in participating can contact Lora Adams at thebbtheatre@gmail.com.
“This is a celebration of creativity, diversity, and artistic expression,” said Adams. A complete list of participating artists will be provided closer to the performance dates of August 29 through 31.
