QUAD-CITIES — Xstream Cleanup, in response to record flooding,  is seeking volunteers for a one-day, region-wide flood cleanup on Saturday, June 29, 8-11AM. Xstream Cleanup volunteers have identified six areas in our region where volunteers can assist in the recovery from the recent flooding.

Multiple cleanup sites are located in Buffalo and Davenport, Iowa; and Hampton and Moline, Illinois.

Volunteers who’d like to help with flood cleanup need to register at www.xstreamcleanup.org.

No previous cleanup experience is necessary, and cleanup supplies such as gloves, dust masks, garbage bags, etc, will be provided by Xstream Cleanup. Volunteers should be prepared to get dirty and are asked to wear old clothes and closed-toed shoes. Flood Cleanup 2019 locations are considered heavy-duty and will include debris-removal. A parent or guardian must accompany volunteers under the age of 18.

All registered volunteers are guaranteed a free Xstream Cleanup Flood 2019 T-shirt.

Xstream Cleanup is made possible by generous support provided by the following: Regional Development Authority, Iowa American Water, Group O, Arconic, TBK Bank, Rock Island County Waste Management Agency, Sears Seating, KWQC, MidAmerican Energy, Alter Metal Recycling, Auto Systems Experts, and Quad City Conservation Alliance.

Xstream Cleanup began in 2004 as a small-scale cleanup of Duck Creek. Over the last 15 years, the event has removed more than one million pounds of trash from area waterways.
