DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 29, 2020) — Community health and dental centers across Iowa were each awarded $20,000 for a total of $360,000 in COVID-19 response-grants from Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation. Funds awarded will help preserve access to care within Iowa’s safety-net infrastructure during this challenging time for many Iowans. Each of the 18 safety-net clinics and/or federal-qualified health centers (FQHCs) provide primary health-care, dental-care, and/or mental-health support-services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
Safety-net health-care providers make it possible for all Iowans to gain access to needed medical and dental care. Iowa’s network of community health-centers helps to eliminate some of the biggest barriers to health-care including cost, lack of insurance, cultural differences, and transportation.
“Our long-term partnership with these safety-net clinics are some of the best examples of our continued commitment to the health and wellness of all Iowans,” said Jeff Russell, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Iowa and president of the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation. “It’s essential that medical and dental care can still be accessed for services like vaccinations, mental-health support-services, chronic disease-care, emergency dental-services, and well-child check-ups. These grants will assist in providing health- and dental-care for all Iowans.”
