WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (April 28, 2025) — Trailblazing physician and osteopathic medicine leader Teresa Hubka DO ('89) FACOOG (dist.) FACOG CS, will deliver the keynote address at Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences' 125th Commencement in May.

Hubka, a highly-respected obstetrician/gynecologist, is president of the American Osteopathic Association, a national organization dedicated to advancing osteopathic medicine through promoting public health, supporting scientific research, and serving as the primary certifying body for osteopathic physicians. She is the founder of Comprehensive Wellness Care in Chicago and graduated from DMU's College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1989.

Hubka has dedicated over twenty years to advancing women's health and education. Dual board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Osteopathic Association's Board of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a Distinguished Fellow of ACOOG and a Diplomat of ACOG and an inductee in the American Osteopathic Association's Mentor Hall of Fame. She has been at the forefront of women's wellness and her practice provides comprehensive women's health-care including osteopathic principles and practice, osteopathic manual medicine, clinical nutrition, and fitness training to a diverse patient population.

DMU's 125th Commencement Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 30, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.

This event will celebrate the achievements of graduates from the College of Osteopathic Medicine, the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, and the College of Health Sciences and welcome them as part of the larger health-care workforce.

Located in West Des Moines, part of Iowa's capital metro, Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences offers ten graduate-level professional-degree programs in anatomy, biomedical sciences, health-care administration, occupational therapy, osteopathic medicine, physical therapy, physician-assistant studies, podiatric medicine, and public health.
