JOHNSTON, IOWA (June 18, 2019) — Dr Chad Overman has provided one-on-one care for patients and led the optometry practice for Walmart, the world's largest retailer. Now he brings his multi-channel optometry business background to Delta Dental of Iowa as the first-ever director of vision benefits. In this role, Dr Overman will serve as the medical expert for DeltaVision(r), the vision insurance program provided by Delta Dental, working closely on product-design, wellness-initiatives, and as a resource for DeltaVision plan-members. "This is an exciting time to join the DeltaVision team as we connect with more employers, members, and brokers to expand coverage to more Iowans," said Dr Overman. "Delta Dental of Iowa is well-respected and my personal values align well with the company's corporate culture of health and wellness. I believe in championing preventive care in the form of yearly exams to help people find quality, affordable and accessible care that improves their overall health." A native Iowan and graduate of Southern College of Optometry in 1995, Dr Overman spent 12 years practicing optometry in Nebraska and Wisconsin. He joined the corporate Walmart Vision Center team where he was named "Doctor of the Year" in 1996 and was the highest ranking optometrist at Walmart and Sam's Club from 2010-2015. Dr Overman then served as Director of Professional Relations for Walmart, where he helped direct a $30 billion business with 4,000 optometrists, 18,000 pharmacists, and 3,000 locations. In 2015, he led the implementation of a vision insurance-plan for Walmart employees, driving a $130 million increase in sales before leaving to pursue a consulting career. Now a top consultant in the eye-care industry, Dr Overman works with national vision-brands like Bausch and Lomb, Allergan, Oculus, and MacuLogix, to name a few. "DeltaVision serves the vision-insurance needs of employers and individuals and has grown to the point where Dr Overman's expertise is essential to help us meet the ever changing wellness needs of Iowans," said Jeff Russell, president and chief executive officer, Delta Dental of Iowa. "His background in retail, employer and provider relations, plan management, and as an optometrist, made him an ideal candidate for this position. We are thrilled to have Dr. Overman on our team as we continue to expand our vision services." For more information on DeltaVision and Delta Dental of Iowa, visit deltadentalia.com.
