DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 18, 2019) — Presented by Arconic, Family Resources held their annual Opening Doors Gala: A Black Tie A-Fair last week. With the support of generous donors, sponsors, and volunteers, the organization raised $105,430.

The evening included live entertainment from magician David Casas, juggler Zach Metzler, and singer Freddy Allen. The event also featured guest-emcee Decker Ploehn, who has supported Family Resources as Master of Ceremonies for several years. An inspiring story was also shared by a domestic-abuse survivor and how her Family Resources advocates supported her during a critical time.

Last year, Family Resources provided direct services and awareness trainings to more than 37,000 individuals in eastern Iowa and western Illinois. All funds raised at the event ensure the continuation of crucial services such as survivor-services, emergency-housing, foster-group care, and mental-health services.

“This year marked Family Resources’ 170th anniversary and we are celebrating the good work that brings our communities together to strengthen and support children and families in being healthy and successful,” said Family Resources President Jeannette Archer Simons. “Our impact is only possible because of the exceptional commitment of donors and volunteers who bring their passion for helping others. The recent Gala celebrated the thousands of lives that benefits from the services provided. We look forward to partnering with our communities for many years to come so there is always a place for individuals in crisis and families in need to get help and support.”
