ELDRIDGE, IOWA (October 25, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate will join Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins on Wednesday morning at 9AM as the county conducts public tests on its election equipment ahead of the November 8 general election.
Every vote tabulator undergoes a logic accuracy test (basically a pre-election audit) in which the public is invited to attend and watch. Sample ballots are tested on the machine to ensure the tabulators are working correctly and recording votes properly.
Both Sec Pate and Auditor Tompkins will be available for interviews to highlight the many steps Iowa takes to protect the integrity and security of elections.
This will be an excellent opportunity for media to get footage of the vote tabulators being tested, to ask questions, and to understand how the process works so they can relay the information accurately to the public.
This will not be a news conference, but more of an informal session in which the media can ask questions, view the process, and conduct interviews. Sec Pate will be there 9-10AM.
